Dry Eye Symptoms FAQs

What is dry eye syndrome?

Dry eye is a condition that occurs when your tears are not of high quality or plentiful enough to lubricate your eyes properly. When your eyes lack enough tears, they dry out and leave you with many discomforts.

What are the causes of dry eyes?

The main cause of dry eye is your tear film malfunctioning. The tear film consists of three parts, which are aqueous fluid, fatty oils, and mucus. Each of these parts should keep your eyes lubricated. When these tear films fail to produce tears, dry eye syndrome occurs. Other causes include environments like computer screens or smoke, age, medical conditions, or certain medications.

What are the dry eye symptoms?

Dry eye, if left untreated, may lead to chronic eye problems, which may even cause vision loss. Common dry eye symptoms include:

  • Eye Redness
  • Burning eyes
  • Gritty sensation
  • Eye discomfort from mild to severe
  • A burning or stinging feeling in the eyes
  • Feeling scratchy in both eyes
  • Trouble seeing at night, especially when driving
  • Trouble while wearing contact lenses

The less common symptoms include:

  • Photophobia
  • Eyelids heaviness
  • Vision changes
  • Severe eye pain

How is dry eye syndrome treated?

Eyedrops (artificial tears) are enough for most patients to manage the condition. However, if your symptoms don’t improve, you need further treatment. Dry eye treatment options include:

  • Medication to reduce eye inflammation or stimulate the production of tears
  • Updating your contact lenses to specialty lenses
  • Unblocking oil glands
  • Eyelid massage

Zocular

Zocular® was developed by Dr. Peter Pham, a board-certified ophthalmologist with a degree in chemistry, to specifically address the root cause of red, watery, irritated, and scratchy eyes, often referred to as "dry eye symptoms".

Upon recognizing the restorative and healing properties of the polysaccharides in okra plants, Dr. Pham started to work on a completely novel formulation using a refined extract of okra and a select blend of other natural botanicals to bring the healing powers of okra and nature to your eyes.

Zocular products target very source of your symptoms - the oily residue, bacteria, and dirt on your eyelids that can cause the eyes to itch, water and burn. After 2 years of research and development, Zocular has introduced ZocuWipe and ZocuFoam, the most effective and innovative products for relieving your dry eye symptoms.

All Zocular products incorporate okra's healing properties to stem the cascade of irritation and discomfort from dry eye symptoms.  Zocular provides relief that works and lasts by actually addressing the root cause of your dry eye symptoms.  Our products do not contain tea oil that can cause severe eye irritation and burning. Our products are

  • Paraben free
  • Hypoallergenic, non-irritating
  • Ophthalmologist developed
  • Dermatologist tested
  • pH-balanced to your tears.
